Manual handling training

If employees experience physical overload due to carrying out heavy, physically demanding work or sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, or standing in the wrong way, the chance of injury to the knees, hip, arm, neck, back, and shoulders are high. This can have negative consequences for physical health and (sustainable) employability. Complaints relating to the musculoskeletal system account for 38% of work-related absenteeism. Also, unfavourable physical overload leads to mistakes and a slower pace of work.

Employees who have to deal with physical overload are less likely to have complaints and recover more quickly if they are fit enough for the task and use their body effectively. They achieve this with practical instructions on factors that can influence the occurrence and prevention of injuries related to physical overload:
Awareness – Behavioural change – Own responsibility

CONTENTS

The participants learn this during the training:

  • Insight into healthy and strenuous postures and movements during work (here we use photos).
  • How do the muscles and weight work during strenuous activities?
  • Which muscles can you use to protect the joints?
  • What actions can you take to reduce physical overload?
  • Measures you can take if an ailment begins.
  • Practicing, experiencing, and assessing yourself while implementing different working postures.

The starting point of the training is:
Awareness -> Change of behaviour -> Own responsibility
to ensure that employees use their bodies efficiently and effectively at work.

What does the training look like?

The training is interactive and experiential: theory alternated with exercises and exchange of experiences.Na a plenary part we practice ‘on the job’ with the application of the new knowledge, insight and skills.

PREPARATION

An introductory meeting with you and the relevant employees on location. What are they doing? How do they do that? What are the obstacles? What should they learn? That is the starting point for the course.

RESULT

After the training employees have knowledge, insight and skills in:

  • physical and repetitive strain
  • the risks and consequences for muscles, joints and vitality.
  • opportunities to reduce physical overload through effective body use and healthy work behaviour
